You May have seen the paint is going on my ‘66 project. But I don’t know how many seals/gaskets I’m missing for reassembly. There was basically nothing on there from PO. I think I’ve got the windshield covered with the wide seal on the cowl and welting for the bumper things. I think I need gaskets for the headlights and welting on the grill. Other than that what do y’all suggest? Anything behind the running lights?

M38A1's had welting in some spots like between the fenders & tub, IMHO just a place to trap moisture & breed rust. :(

The CJs have butyl caulk between the fenders and body, and the fenders and grille. You could leave it out, but it's there to prevent squeaks, I presume.

I bought a roll of the caulking tape off Ebay for between the body panels and floor covers. I saw where a guy used plumber's putty to seal the floor covers too. The tape and the putty will seal, but won't hold water. They also don't "stick" so hard that you cannot get the parts separated later if you need to. Any "squeeze out " is easy to remove.

You will need body mounts too. I found urethane body mounts for mine for not a lot of money, seems like around $25.00 or so. I used 14 to mount mine, added them under the fire wall too. I used stainless bolts to mount it, just in case I ever wanted to remove later, just a suggestion.

Anyone have a good technique for using the split rivets without the $30 rivet tool?

If you have someone to help you, you can have someone buck the rivet with a dolly while you take a center punch drive it into the rivet to open it up then hammer it out with a flat hammer, works for me. Good Luck

What about these clip-in nuts? I'm missing several of them on my tub. What are they called? Are they available anywhere?

I welded some 1/4 20 nuts to the firewall. It’s working well so far

Panel nuts, snap nuts. McMaster-Carr has them. 1/4"-20 zinc plated # 90680A135 package of 25 for $10.21. These fit perfect on our cj5's
