I need to buy some parts (or maybe a new distributor, if it's some kind of Omix junk), but I can't figure out what it is exactly. There's no tag on it. From what I have read, it is either an IAY-(something) or the generic Omix contraption. What do y'all think? If it is an IAY, what model IAY is it (or how can I figure out)?

    Thanks! :D

    I don't think it's a repro, looks original.

Here is mine. The innards and cap clips are the same. Prestolite IAY-4401 if the image gets lost/broken. The engine, as I was told, came from an FC150 though.

The points are a Standard AL4556P, AL111 condenser, AL124 rotor. At least the boxes the parts came in say that.

    Thank you, sirs.

Glenn, I think you are right. I looked more closely at photos of the Omix distributor, and mine has an old-style terminal clip for the coil. The kind with the little nubs that make it click in. Whereas the Omix one looks to just have a simple split spade connector (or whatever it's called) on it.

I guess my tag got lost sometime in the distant mists of time when the points were changed last (which was probably at least 30 years ago, as the PO did lots of badly-executed "cosmetic" stuff (he painted the frigging radiator...) but didn't actually ever grease anything or set the timing or change the plugs, or anything other than change the oil, and then sold it when it stopped running right without proper maintenance lol).

I guess the different model number IAYs all take the same bearings and dizzies and points and stuff... I guess the only difference is the spark advance weights, and I guess as long as I don't have to replace my distributor, I don't really need to know what weights I need. But if I can't find bearings for this thing (it's got more wobble than I am comfortable with), then I will have to replace the whole thing, and will have to figure out what I need to get so I have the right spark advance curve, I guess...

Should be bushings in it, not bearings. There are places that rebuild distributors, I don't know if they sell the bushings or just do rebuilds.
