A buddy of mine left this in my yard a few months back. He mentioned today that he may want to sell it but he wanted more info on what it was and what it's worth before he did that. His dad left it to him a few years back and all he knows about it is that is a 52'. aside from surface rust there really isn't any deep cancer. It runs great and drives. any info would be helpful.

A CJ3A with a V6 in it. Looks like a Buick, but I'm not sure.

Yep. 225 Buick, out of a car I'd wager, judging by the 1bbl. carb.

Definitely a car engine - could it be a 198? Can you tell from the top?

Common and a good upgrade though. If not going for a restoration or originality if it was done well can increase the value.

Looks like a CJ-3a to me. Definitely a 225 or 198. If it has a "round" bellhousing to block bolt pattern then a 198. If it has two bolt holes close together and not concentric to the others then a 225. Look on the block for cast in numbers and you can look them up on this site to be sure.

Hard to tell from the pic but the grill looks older than '52. Just going by the turn signals. Or were they the same into the 50's?

The "what's it worth" is going to vary a bunch with whoever looks at it. What would I pay? Depends on what the rest of the installation looks like but the firewall work doesn't look too pretty. $1500? Definitely a 3A.

if I came across it, I'd be interested if it were in the $1000 range, maybe more. Has some issues with the spring mounts that I can see from these pics. A 225 would be better than a 198. Probably would be worth significantly more on the west coast.

I'd suggest to your friend that he put a front bumper on it. Maybe the frame horns are spanned by some steel we can't see in these pics, but normally the front bumper acts as a crossmember and keeps the front frame horns aligned.

Yeah, looks like some one attempted a lift of sorts there which appears to be a bit on the jankey side but the rest looks rather well done. I wonder if it's a case of two different owners doing 2 different mods.

and yeah, bumper is a good idea i think i'll see if he wants me to put one on for him
