I drained and refilled cooling system, will need a couple more purges to clear out the orange slimey water. Found the blower fan was not running (tried to run defrost) and located 7.5 blown fuse where a 9 amp should be. Replaced and all is good. Also r&r temp gauge sending unit cleaned, new terminal on wiring and have a working gauge. Also messed around with rad cap that was not quite sealing off got it sealing properly.
Tomorrow, lube brake/clutch pivot shaft, blower bushings, and alt bushings.
Seem to have a throw out that may need attention as it occasionally squalks.
Working on the dash has elevated my quest to find a stock oil pressure gauge.
ITLKSEZ, I do not envy you or anyone else that has to deal with rusted projects. Here we are fortunate save for anyone that resurrects a project from the coast (ca's rust belt). I count my blessings.

Had to laugh when I saw the pictures of the tub upside down. 20 years ago mine looked just like that with tools laying on it. Keep up the good work.

Both floor pans are welded in, just waiting on hat channels

The floors were cut out of a sheet of 18 ga.

I was having issues with my steering on my 70. When I turned the wheel slightly to the right or left it would jump right or left. I attempted a front end alignment. While turning the tie rod I discovered it was bent. :worry:. I was concerned that the DJ parts would be different than a CJ. Looking online it appears that they are the same. I am going to take some measurements and make some calls tomorrow before I order.

Glad I found it but sad I have to fix it. It's cold even here in TX. But I think it will be an easy part swap. We shall see.

And I did take it out for a drive and almost got up to 50 on the service road. That was fun.

Engine oil and filter change and an unexpected coil replacement. Pulled coil wire to crank motor w/o starting to purge oil pump and lifters and found coil tower full of oil. Old coil replaced with another and new on it's way. This oil and filter will be changed out again in short order as last oil change was likely >20 years ago, carb was running very rich before rebuilt in nov and heat riser was stuck in closed position. The oil was slightly thin and reeked of fuel. Now it's golden, have to see how quickly it colors up.
Lastly I found out I cannot re-fill the oil as qickly as I do any of my other vehicles. Made a little mess when the oil backed up around the oil fill opening (I use a 1" funnel and was pouring as quick as a 1 gal jug can deliver).  :schooled:

Went past the CJ-6 on the way to work this morning. Looked at it lovingly. I am going to pull the tcase out tonight so I can send the intermediate gear to McRuff for machining. No more playing with Farm Jeep Willy till that gets back together.

Man, I really have to hand it to you guys who have such good patience for bodywork. My C-600 (cabover) Ford will be needing an extensive drip edge rust hole repair and some cab corners and I put everything in front of that project because of that. If I found a nice cab for it, I'd change the cab before I'd choose bodywork willingly, but, I guess I have to fix it, due to lack of winning the lottery recently.

My new steering wheel came, I installed that and the new steering column tube I've had for a month now. The old parts were ratty, the new ones really improve the looks of the cab!

Rear shocks yesterday, front shocks after church today. Rubbers were worn out on the old ones. . .shocks just flopping around. Also found out why the brakes never have worked: the right-rear brake line doesn't actually attach to the backing plate! Reckon I'll get new lines ordered this month.

ran out of time to post: saturday I drove to town on maiden on-road voyage to get 6 gallons of fuel and the coin car wash to blast off dawn/simple green soaked grease and dirt from the mechanicals. While there swung by a jeep buddy's shop and let him check out our rig. He say's don't change a thing! Talked tires as the drive was not very nice with settled in 20 yr old bias ply, on top of tired steering. Returned home and installed new coil and ran the jeep, replaced leaker radiator cap and returned borrowed coil to original vehicle (hope I hooked that up right).
I plan to start photo document, get new tires and lube chassis and get ready to change other fluids (diff's, tranny and t-case and the warn o.d.). In the next week or so. I also hope to locate and install an oem oil gauge to replace the mechanical sw someone put in to replace the faulty original.

Located new tires locally (if they can get them), purged cooling system again and it was fairly clear decided to refill with antifreeze and I now have nice greenish fluid running around. Also found a nice winch to perhaps use on her, or another project. Will pick up a 8274 when visiting our daughter. Supposedly nice shape with controls, fairlead and bumper.
Ranch chores and family matter got in the way of doing much.

Lubed all zerks, the brake was a pita. Had to remove and blast through. Also need to figure out if grease pumps through it to purge. I could barely get any to go in. Zerk is open and clear.

Didn't feel like I did enough work by lubing earlier and had noticed running a little rich so I decided to install brass carb float sourced from Mike's carbs. opened up this easy to service 2g carb and installed and set level and drop. Buttoned her up and ran without eye watering fumes. Got to get temp gauge working. With new rad cap finding small leaks in succession, easily stopped by tightening hose ends.

Pushed Farm Jeep Willy out of the garage and finally painted the kitchen tables I made my wife. Pushed it back in after the paint was dry. Also did brakes, rotors and steering stabilizer on Cherokee plow truck. Then fixed a broken plow spring. Looked at Jeep lovingly.

Started yesterday with a full tear down of my 2g carb. Second trip I've put it through this. Had water go thru the roof of the shed, leak into the air cleaner and thru the carb into the motor... sucks be to me.

First two parts been soaking overnight in the chem-dip. Other third (jets, etc.) prep'd and ready.

I have an old piece of a thread around here where I did it the first time.

will re-do the writeup, this time as it's own; if it's worthy, may be add to the tech library.

Yep. That will be last step.

Going to plug things off and glass bead the 3 body parts.
