Far from it. About as far from it as it could be, short of undergoing a restoration.

To start off where this thread left off: a broken starter bendix. That was a cheap omix piece of junk, and it didn't last at all. Replaced it with a NOS one, which held up better. That was july/August 2021, about a year and a half ago now. After that I didn't do too much to it. Around February/March 2022, a few major events happened: we moved across town and a friend of mine died. It was a tough time, but I got to road test the jeep for the first time. It went a mile or 2 (at about 25 mph) before it started acting up, and had to be towed. It was parked, and mainly forgotten in the process of moving. As we were exploring the treeline at the new place, we found a piece of steel sticking out of the ground. Me being the jeep enthusiast I am, I immediately recognized it as an early cj5 bumper, solving my long running problem of lacking a bumper. It was bent, and so was my frame, but with a sledge hammer, an impact gun, and a dream we got it on. In April, after using it a bit (mudding in the pivot corner we now owned), the transfer case (which I'd rebuilt a year earlier) stopped transmitting power to the driveshafts. :banghead: we tore it apart, expecting the worst, and found that it was merely a missing safety wire on one shift fork, which allowed the lock screw to vibrate loose, which allowed the gear to slide into neutral and never slide out. In a matter of 5 or 6 hours, the transfer case was completely disassembled, fixed, reassembled, and installed. Didn't do much after that, but when I visited my grandparents farm in NY that June, I found the box from the locker in the front axle, with the original spider gears inside. I brought that, along with a white wagon wheel (for a spare) home to nebraska. Also in June, as a birthday present, I got a swing out spare tire carrier with Jerry can mounts. For July, we set a flag in the back and parked it out in the front yard as a decoration (still having issues with running, low compression on all cylinders). In September, we pulled the head off the engine, assuming there was a blown head gasket. What we found was DEEP scoring on #3, so we made the decision to pull the engine out. We pulled it in the front yard in the sketchiest operation I've been a part of. After full disassembly, the #3 pushrod was found to be bent and worn. In December, I again visited the farm (to help my grandpa with cancer) and picked up a pushrod from a 3b they have. That brings us to about now, where I've started looking through the wiring harness to correct the sketchy stuff and incorporate GM sealed connectors. Unfortunately, as of the 9th of April (easter) I've lost yet another close friend.

So to recap, the jeep doesn't have an engine or most of its wiring, 2 of my friends died, and I have an entirely different view of everything, including (and especially) the jeep. As of now, my plan is to rebuild (maybe sleeve) the original engine, get it back together, get the jeep drivable (with newer electrical stuff) and just use it as a fun rig to toy around with in the yard and maybe take to school once in a while. I'll try to figure out pictures in my next post. (Need to go on my laptop).
