Wat have you guys done for a Tcase drop???

    I was looknig at my riveshaft angles and when i put my T18 in the rear will be a little more steeper. I was thinknig bout dropping the Tcase. I was going to use 1 inch square tubing. What is the most you can drop the Tcase?? And what did you guys use to drop the Tcase??

    Dan my 5 does not have one but my YJ does.
    Its a square tube from Rough Country that came with kit.
    I've also seen round spacers plates used.

    I used 1" square tubing and also used wedges on my rear axle to raise the pinion angle. It took a little while to get it right, but I have a 13" driveshaft and no vibrations

    I used 2" square tubing and didn't use wedges in the rear axle. No driveshaft problems whatsoever. That T-18 sure is big. I shoved it up into the floor pan as much as I could.

    I made a whole new cross member.. the bad side of dropping the case is obviously less ground clearance but also the valve covers get closer to the fire wall.. dunno if this is a concern with a steel body but it got too close for comfort with the glass body so I had to move the whole drive line forward about 1/2".. the pics of the cross member are on my wep page..

    i dopped mine an inch using aluminum bar with bolt holes drilled

    I used 2 inch square tubing.. and as you can see here

    it isnt very steep at all. Well it wont be when I bolt it back in anyways.

    Keep the xfercase where it is and rotate the rear axle upwards so the axle yoke is pointing about 2 degrees below the xfer case rear output (yoke) and use a cv joint on the rear driveshaft. Some people have diff oil foaming problems where the oil climbs out the breather hose. Add a half cup of atf (anti foaming agent) and a second breather hose (location up high on diff) if you run into this problem.

    How do you fit a CV joint and slip-yoke on a 12" driveshaft though??? R)

    Dan: About anything will work. Mine uses some shims of some sort that drops it about 1 1/16".

    Jeepnut--Hopefully with a Tcase drop and a shim in the rear axel he won't have to use a CV joint.
