Warn Lock O Matic Hubs

    When you leave the Lock-o-Matics in "free" they don't engage anything until you put it in 4wd, engaging the front driveshaft. As long a you keep your Jeep in 2wd, the only thing that turns up front are the bearing hubs on the spindle.
    Did you get the bad noise in 2wd with the hubs "free"? If so, it can only be wheel bearings or brakes.

    yes that is when it was making the noise, 2wd hubs in free. Trying to coble together the hubs, one is missing some parts and the other the lock nut is all beat up. after I figure something out I will post up if the noise went away.

    Walck's 4WD should have the nuts for the hubs. The hex nuts are regular spindle nuts and the special washer and round "drag" nut should be available through them too.

    In 2WD and hubs free it almost has to have been a wheel bearing.

    Looks like you have an older model, the M-196. These are M241s. They do not include the part you need.

    Pretty sure what I have is this hub -

    because of all the loose rollers from he broken one. I can clean it up and look at it more closely, but of course it's covered with dirt-loaded grease.

    I looked all over the internet and called some bearing suppliers to see if I could find replacements for the roller bearings:

    I struck out and ended up making a couple of my own from a 5/16" stainless steel rod. I don't know how long they'll last. The jeep isn't running yet.

    I am not sure on the model number but IIRC you might be correct. Currently out of town for work but will check when I get home.
