"Can you show us a pix of bubba-dump?" Not on this site, I can't figger it out.

It's 64 CJ5 where almost everything but the hood was rotted away. Not even any fenders left.

I cut open a 275 gallon oil tank, laid on the flat. Made it pivot high above the drawbar so when it is fully loaded, I pull a pin in front and it dumps the load. I use it for firewood, gravel etc. Helper coils over the rear axle, like an M38a1-C. PTO winch up front to pull trees out.

I might add my 1950 Willys Jeep F-head pickup was the ruggedest beast I ever took in the woods, for hauling weight. Only gave up when the frame broke in half, and that was an easy fix.

Hey, don't laugh. I paid a $100 for the jeep and used up two whole oil tanks reconstructing the body (inner fenders, etc)...

I think we stole this thread.... sorry!

Thanks for the pictures of Bubba Dump.

Now back to Matt's thread on snow plowing with a jeep. By the way, my Myers plow came off a 62 CJ5 from North Jersey, and the jeep had broken leaves in all four leaf springs. One can get too ambitious with a plow jeep and the jeep gets beat to hell. One further note, the plows I mentioned earlier in the thread are mounted on the back but the curve is facing forward, making the rear plow a "pull" plow not a "push" plow, so the comment about plowing in reverse gear is not a problem. Putting a small 4 or 5' plow on the rear of the jeep would add a few hundred pounds of weight to the rear, where it is needed for plowing, so it would not be necessary to add the 1/4" steel plate and 5 bags of feed for rear ballast. If you add weight to the box for plowing, make sure that the weight is secured as when you plow and hit something hidden in the snow, the added weight in the rear bead can slide forward into your seat or into the gas tank that you are sitting on.

Have any of you with plows ever used for dirt or gravel?, and if so how do they hold up?

I am in Florida, so I wont ever see snow to plow , but lots of sandy loam, and gravel/crushed sea shells

Use it very gently and you can spread loose gravel. Not saying it's a good idea, however.

I was in a different situation, but the solution was the same. Welded up a bracket for the pump mounting bolts, put some slots in it for belt adjustment, line it up with a drive pulley then added weld-on spider legs to bolt on to whatever was handy on the engine nearby.

"Successfully?" Why not? Pulley alignment and clearances need to eyeballed from the start. Then anything goes.

Boy am I glad I found this post! My recently acquired CJ has the Monarch 101 plow, and I have a question about the hose routing because it seems off to me. Granted at this point all I have done is raise and lower it to drive the Jeep home, but looking at the range of motion of the levers(blue arrows), this hose(red arrow) does not appear to be in the right spot, as the levers bump up against it, to the point where the top lever pretty much only goes one way. Thoughts?

    "Thoughts?"

    Move the hose? ;)

It may have just rotated at an elbow, or maybe needs to have an elbow added, from what I can see.

The only way to position it where it's out of the way is pretty much sticking straight up in the air. Can I just use any proper sized hydraulic line elbow/fitting?

Thanks, first time messing with hydraulics and don't want to make any irreversible mistakes considering the age of this setup.

    Hello,
I am new on here and I came across this old post and would like to see the pics of this pump mount, but for some reason I can't. Is there a way you can get them to me?

The pics probably fell victim to the photo bucket debacle many years ago.

Did you get the plow parts from the guy in NH? I guess I dropped the ball on them.

I haven't heard back yet. I have a hand full of Jeeps with plows. None of them are installed the same.
