Jeep is a 3B, around a mid 50s or so.

    Has stock F-head, T90, D18.

2" lift with shims installed. No vibes on acceleration or when running but when you decelerate it thumps. Seems to be coming from the output on the transfer case in the rear of the Jeep.

    Ideas?

Sorta a thumping. Don't think it's the rear floor vibrating. Could be.

Transfercase or transmission mount loose or broke, causing the unit to move up and down on the crossmember slightly.

I've had vibes like that twice on my TJ. One was a bad U-Joint and the other was a loose pinion nut.

    Deceleration only?

It's done this for uh, several years. Could be a bad u-joint I suppose no more than the Jeep gets driven.

A u-joint that is worn usually thumps on both acceleration AND deceleration. I'd take a good look at those tranny mounts.

Ummm could it be the axle is twisting up upon aceleration so there is no binding but when you get off the gas the axle goes back to static position and the U-joints are binding? I'm just thinking outloud.

x2 on the driveshaft binding. The pinion dips on decleration increasing operation angle. Your description sounds similar to something I was experiencing. I added shims with more angle and all was well afterwards.

That was the problem when I had these symptoms.
