I am in the process of replacing the missing parts to my 65 before body work and paint. I purchased wiper arms, nuts and blades for the trico vacuum wiper motors. The driver side was working good but the passenger side would only do one swipe and stop, with no arms on. I did some research and put in automatic transmission fluid through a hose and funnel, manually advancing the motor, and it worked like a charm. I did the same to the driver side as some say these should be lubricated periodically. To get the arms to work, the blade needs to be resting on the rubber seal of the windshield and it advances to the rubber seal on the far swipe. My question is, can the wiper motors be adjusted for a shorter swipe?

    Nope.

The blades come in different lengths though- you may have got the longer set.

It think I have these installed correctly. When turned on the blades do not touch the rubber windshield gasket during the swipe. When turned off the blades return to the passenger side up onto the rubber gasket. Is this the proper operation?

Returning a little to far up. Should not ride up on the windshield rubber gasket.
