I filled the system with water yesterday to see if we could even start her. V6 hadn't run (or had coolent) in 10 or 12 years?

Water sitting on top of manifold, passenger side only. The smaller hoses here look good and clamps are tight. Top hose is new and tight also. What is the most likely leak?

Almost looks like it's coming out from under the valve cover? How fast does it fill up like that? Seems like you could dry it and run it to see where it comes from. Is there water in the oil?

I don't think it could come up from under the valve cover and it fills up when the engine isn't running. I only ran it for a few seconds at a time last night as the fuel pump is bad. Got a new pump from FLAPS today. I'll look at oil right away.

On my v6 with a 2G there is a water passage from the heads, thru the intake and up to the carb base. could be that if gasket is od and crusty.

    That shouldn't be to hard.
How sure of that would you be?
    Is that common?

I thing the heater hose and it's connector/clamp are leaking. The fan is blowing coolant into the second cavity. JMO

I ordered a heater bypass hose and intake gasket set from Rock Auto just now. Anyone else think of something I can spend $$ on?

I agree with Walt, pretty easy and inexpensive to eliminate that possibility if it's something else. Take a closer look at the thermostat housing gasket too.

X2 on heater hose or clamp leaking. The fan can move water around under the hood.

It is one of the possibilities. Once you get a list of possibilities start looking at each on on a low cost priority. Is there any water running down, or seeping down the intake manifold where the carb sits. If not probably not that gasket.

Can u blow or wet vac the water away then try to determine where it is coming in. That's what I would do.

You should be able to pressure test the system and look for leaks. You can rent a tester from AutoZone and most flaps.

Tim. What exactly do you call that rusted out part? Where to buy?
Is that hose a prebent thing or straight heater type hose?

Wow! I hate to say this, but good luck getting that piece out. o_O

I've always used regular old heater hose. 5/8" if memory serves.
