Thx jzeber. I'm sorta warming up to the idea of a single swinging pedal, and it looks fairly easy to get the booster/MC mounted. I am just now starting to think about my brake setup and went out last night to look at my existing MC. It has a single round plastic cap on it so I'm assuming it's a single circuit. Since that needs to be replaced I will probably take one last look at fitting a booster/MC on the frame and fabbing a guard around it if I can make it fit with the stock pedal. If not then I'm headed down the same path as you.

Lastly how nice is it having the booster vs. just disc/drum no booster? Did you or anybody else ever run the disc/drum without booster then add a booster? Reputable people here saying the brakes are good without the booster so just curious if you think the booster was worth it. My thinking is I have to redo my whole system anyway, figure might as well do booster while I'm at it, but if it's not a big benefit then I won't bother.

I think this will be hard to answer for anyone but yourself. The required, sustained, foot pressure goes up with Jeep weight and tires and component choices. The heavier the tires and Jeep, and the less tolerant the driver, the more likely you will want a booster.

My best suggestion is to find a fellow Jeeper that has a combo about like what you're looking to end up at, and drive that to see what it's like. I've driven heavier race car chassis than my CJ with decently large components without boosters and found it pleasant actually. I do not plan on running a booster, but I do plan on running larger MC, brakes, and lines than stock (and swing pedals).

I actually ran my CJ this way for a number of years. One of the biggest tricks is to run organic brake pads, not metallic. If you decide to go this route I'm pretty sure you will need a dual M/C for disc/drum. I was chasing other brake gremlins for many years so the non booster/under floor m/c were major problems for me. The non power assist worked but as I get older the more I appreciate the booster.

Older version of the aforementioned VH booster that Herm's selling (available on ebay for about half what he charges). Again only for single circuit brake systems & the first brake upgrade you should do is go to dual circuits, whether under floor or the hanging pedal type.

FWIW I have an under floor dual MC and 11" drums all around- pedal feel is good & I have no problems locking up the wheels.
