No the pilot power is supplied by the flasher internals on a load/no load condition.

Mine are Signal Stat 900 switches. They have left and right pilot lenses and one in the middle also. I assume the Sparton is like that also?

But isn't that how the diagram posted shows it?

Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding of a flasher is that the load going through it determines whether or not it works...i.e. if not enough load it doesn't break the circuit.

This is true. For the Signal stat 900 it is internally different than the Sparton. The 900 has a built in four way signaling when you pull the control arm outward (I think) which flashes the third pilot indicator. The 900 works with a 2 prong flasher and the Sparton has to have the 3 prong.

Actually it's a separate tab/lever under the control arm you pull out and the control arm when moved cancels it.

Right you are as has been many years since I messed with sig-stats. My comment on 2 and 3 prong flashers is 3 prong for 7 wire and 2 prong flasher for 4 wire signal systems.

I am kind of surprised she didn't. She was actually quite concerned - if I would have been in her shoes i would have been laughing my *** off. I was kind of laughing at myself anyway trying figure out how I ended up in the position i did. If I had to, I think I could have gotten myself out (...sure...), but I tweaked my back and hamstring last week in the gym and whatever leveraging, leg curling, twisting side sit-up combo I was trying seemed to hit the back hard. That's probably why she was more concerned than laughing as she knew I have been battling a balky back for a few days and every once in a while it hits me hard.

I think that is becoming the same for most all of us as the age numbers continue to add up.

Yep, even after driving for maybe an hour I've found that walking is a new experience.

Whenever I try to work under the dash I have to remove the seat and put a pad on top of the gas tank to lay on my back. Even then I can only stay there for a short time.

me too. I'm not opposed to unbolting the steering column, then the dash, and laying the dash out. That is actually pretty quick. Just remember to ground the dash when testing stuff. The nice part of this is that you can see all the wires and dress them up when you get done. I also change all the inline fuses and holders if I go this far.

I remove the heater control unit and ignition switch when I need to get up under the dash. Lots of room when those 2 items are out of the way.

What did you find that was causing the problem?
