    Local guy has a slightly modified 1975 304 CJ-5.
Anyway someone removed the T-15 and replaced it with a Tremec 150.
So I sold him the correct Borg Warner T-15.
But apparently Jeep changed their bellhousings in 1976 when they started to use Tremec 150.
This 1976-1979 AMC bellhousing is about 1" too shallow and has the wrong index bore for a T-15.

    I don't have the correct 3215152 bellhousing.
Did any other AMC bellhousings work for the T-15 to AMC 304 ?

I believe the t14 and t15 used the same bell from 72-75. I have one if you need it.

Yeah Daryl, We probably will need that.
I don't see any locally available.
I'll tell the owner what's up and let him decide.
PM me a price if you can shipped to St Louis area.

Besides the correct 3213751 pilot bushing that's probably all he will need.
I'll look at his Jeep tomorrow and see.

Daryl is correct, T-14 and T-15 in the CJ '72-75 use the same bell, as does the CJ T-18 in those years. Any J-truck or Wagoneer with a manual transmission '71-79 also uses that T-14/15 bell. '72-73 Commando too. The T-150 is a Ford pattern transmission, like the T-176, and uses the same Ford-pattern bell. There is some demand for the T-150 bell.

    Thanks Tim for the details.
So I take it that the 360 engine also uses the same bellhousing as the 232, 258 and 304 ?
I know the 360 ran a larger clutch plate than the smaller engines.

    Speaking of clutches...
It appears to me that Jeep went from 1-1/8 diameter maindrive gears as standard equipment down to 1-1/16" maindrive gears in 1976.
Do you happen to know if the clutch forks were also changed or other linkage inside the 1976 bell ?

Yes - even the few 1974 401/T-18 combos use the same bell.

The Ford-pattern transmissions (Ford repop by Tremec) have a 1-1/16" shaft, and the Borg-Warner transmissions are 1-1/8". The release arm is different. The T-14/T-15/T-18 uses a 3217480, and the T-150 and initial T-176 is a 3224192. Both are available as an aftermarket part.
