i will defintly be checking brakes and tires, and i will be towing with a 2002 f250 crew cab long bed power stroke, chipped, dual exhast, trailer brake controller, and aftermarket tranny cooler. i dont thinkim going to have a huge problem, the trailer is only 18' long

ok this guy is on something in a big way. his defintition of "needing paint" is far from mne. the floor is almost completly rotten, the door to the back is barley hanging on, and the bottom of the entire enclosure is strating to rust through. the wiring job is a hack job, and the tires dont hold air. the minute i looked at it, i starting laughing, the guy asked me whats so funny, and all i could think of is "it just needs some paint" oh well the search continues

    Erik,
Look this weekend at the swap meet. I've occasionally seen them for sale in the parking lot. Nickmil.

i found a guy locally who's friend supposedly put lockouts on his rear axle as well as the front so he could free wheel all 4 wheels when towing. (maybe an "urban" legend tho)

Not an urban Legend. Warn builds a full float conversion for the rear axle that does just that. I built one for my CJ-5 years before Warn came out with theirs. I can tell you it's real nice to just dial out the hubs and off you go. I have a trailer and I flat tow mine frequently if it's not a long distance. Only reason I don't flat tow longer distances is I like the backup of a trailer if something serious breaks and I like trailer brakes. Nickmil.
