Torsion axles have the advantage of lots of ground clearance on a trailer. but I understand they are not recommended for off-road use. Can anyone explain the reasons why????

Might be an articulation issue. We have a brush chipper with torsion axles on it and they work great manuevering through yards. It is a hevy machine, 6000#+.

I have used Torkflex axles on many trailers and do not see a downside. They are also much quieter then traditional leaves. Where did the info come from about off-road trailers?

It was mentioned on a old post on this site & two different sites from Australian off-road trailer builders that I came across. It strikes me that Torsion axles the perfect application for an off-road trailer & wanted some experienced opinions before I went that route. Thanx to all
