What have you done to add some length/drop to a stock 100/416 or civ'y trailer tongue? I searched just about all 35 or so pages and haven't seen a thread title covering this.

I own a '52 M100 Strick. All stock minus my lunette was cut and a ball hitch welded, tailgate cut in. It's functional as is but I would like more length ( 5-10") and a drop in height as well. Saw a M200 (?) lunette on eBay and like the look of a drop in a lunette/ pintle hitch set up. Also I need the drop due to my spare tire location on my swing gate on the jeep. There is very little clearance as it is between the tire and hitch. I want the trailer to ride level so it won't be as easy as lowering the ball. Plan on staying with 235's or 28-29" tires to match jeep.

Not sold on any type of hitch. Original is not a concern for this one although this will not be an "end of the world/camping rig" or off roader as seen on some other forums. Just for function and a little show. Any thought as to a direction to take? Photos of yours would be awesome.

    Thanks Mike.

Glad I have a place like this to learn from. I now see the lunette attachment is different from a 100 to a 416 and I presume whatever you have (Bantam?). I have mine stored in a neighbors barn , not in front of me to check at this time. With the M100 can you mount a receiver a bit lower on the frame as in your photo above and delete the lunette attachment that is higher on the frame? I would assume so. Dang near anything is possible with torch, metal, welder, six pack, and a few ideas to go off of. Which is what I am seeking.

Anyone have a M100 with photos?

do you have the ball right on the drawbar? If so you can get a factory hitch. its just a thick triangle plate that pushes out the ball and has a couple inches drop or lift depending which way you flip it

My M100 came with a custom built bracket that replaced the original lunette bracket and leg support. I modified it with a hitch receiver like Mike B did and made a short and long stinger, then a dropped stinger so it would tow level behind my Isuzu Pup. I then fabricated my own rotating lunette stinger. I use a crank up landing gear for the tongue since I don't have the original fold down leg.

Telescoping (2" ID/OD) square tubing has many possibilities and is easy to work with.

Amazing how much my receiver looks likes Mike's. (at least I'd like to think that great mind's think alike...) I did the same thing on a mid 40's Civvy trailer except didn't think about doing that anti-rattle bolt. Great idea! I bought a lunette from Academy and also made a 2" ball mount using about a foot long piece of 2" tube so overall length on both of mine are about same as my M100 lunette.
