Thumbs up on this forum. Not that it reflects the website's true identity; but I don't see anything wrong with providing a section for the newer Jeeps.

Just recently, I bought a 1997 Wrangler Sahara for my day to day travels. While it runs great, the dealership said that the PO changed out the rear axle with a 2002 rear axle. Good news is they matched the gear ratio...bad news is they neglected to hook up the ABS system properly. While the braking feels great; I haven't had a chance to see if the ABS even engages (waiting for the snow to hit the Western Slope). The ABS light is on all the time, which tells me there is a problem with it. Also, the emergency brake was never hooked up to the new axle. Could this set off the ABS light on the dash?

I don't think the ABS light is caused by the emergency brake cable. The axle should have ABS sensors on the rear wheels, try connecting them if their present or add them if they're missing.

Good news on this one...all of the wiring and brains are still there. I'm hoping that it was just disconnected for offroad purposes. Christmas gets hectic, so I'll have to wait to find time to get my head under the hood.

I heartily approve of my Ross box abs.
Can't get them with the one finger steering on them new JeepsR)
Hopefully you'll find it a plug-n-play fix, may have to retrofit the original sensors into your newer axle if they're vastly different.
