My wife bought me a set of 33x12.50 BFGs for my birthday (lucky man, I know!)

I'm planning on mounting these on 15x8 pro-comps with 3.75" backspace.

    I'm also planning a 2.5" lift and +1" shackle.

Will this work without rubbing issues? If not, where do I need attention?

    Thanks!

    Year/model? Assuming it's a 1972-75 CJ, since that's what this sub-forum is about.

You will probably have some rubbing at first. When the rear is fully stuffed, the rear tires will rub on the inside surface of the rear wheelhouse. They all do. The tires will probably contact the springs at full lock left or right. Also, not a problem, but there is a stop on the axle you can adjust to keep the tire from contacting the spring.

33s should not contact the rear wheel opening on a CJ at full stuff. If they do, you can shim your bump stops down a little to keep the tires away from the body. At the front, the usual contact will be at the back and bottom edge of the front fender. Again, with 3" of lift, you'll likely need to shim your axle stops down to keep the shocks from bottoming, and this will help prevent tire contact with the fender at the back edge.

33s are right at the limit - any larger and you'll need more lift and lower bump stops or cutting some metal (tube fenders, TJ flares).

Thanks, Tim. I thought I had mentioned the year and model, but looks like I edited it out.

    Yes, it is a 1973 CJ5
