My jeep didn't have one but that doesn't mean it didn't come with one. I read some CJs didn't have it. Anyone know which jeeps didn't have them ? I would think mine would have a throttle cable with the pto.

I agree. All including my DJ5 had a throttle cable except the 65. None had a PTO. I would think you would need it if you use the PTO.

I don't think V6 Jeeps came with a throttle cable, never saw one, only 4 cyl. Jeeps.

I used to work on a friend's late '60s CJ5 with a Dauntless that had both the manual choke and throttle dash controls. I rebuilt the Rochester 2bbl and had to disconnect all the linkage. I can't verify that it was factory original, but all the cable clamps and such seemed original, and I reconnected everything with almost no fiddling to get both controls to function perfectly.

They definitely had the manual choke, but none of the ones I ever saw at the dealer had a hand throttle. I always wondered why they didn't. They were always on the F-head Jeeps though. Installing one would of course be a pretty simple task. But of course that's only what I saw, doesn't mean anything more than that. ;)

Not meant to be a cruise control - more like a adjustable fast idle you can use rolling over rocks and such.

Yep - but I don't know whether that's from what I knew previously or what I've read here. The main part of the setup is the cable labeled "throttle" on the knob. I took one of those from stock at the Jeep dealer and installed it on my '73 with a 304 V8. I had a bracket on the carburetor that the cable went through, and it was terminated with a barrel-type stop nut. I made it so that the stop nut and cable did not prevent the throttle from moving above the idle speed that I could select with the throttle cable.

The cables you get from Dorman (meant for a manual choke) are the same as the throttle cable, except they are not labeled "Throttle."

Be very careful of your design, so that the throttle will not bind and make a runaway.
