wondering what this second breather hose on the valve cover? I have only seen the one off the dipstick tube. Do i need it or can i just get a regular valve cover?

The hose is the final leg of the air circulation loop of the PCV system. Clean air from air cleaner to dipstick tube, through engine, out valve cover and through PCV valve to intake.

Besides the system 45es descibes, other F-heads had a PCV valve drawing from the exhaust valve cover on the driver's side of the block, in which case you do not need a vented rocker cover.

OK, I'm stumped... this Jeep popped up FS on FB. What on earth is that hand crank on the dash? You can see it goes through the firewall to rotate something up front... any ideas? I've never seen anything like it.

With the versatility of the Jeep there’s no telling what it was asked to do.

You might be on to something here... I know the half-cab Jeeps were used a lot as fire rigs. Never seen a hand crank siren on them though.

I don't think it looks like an original application ? It does not appear to go thru the Firewall ? Was it part of a venting windshield ?

I don't think it's original by any means, but I assumed that it connected to the flexible metal line that comes through the firewall next to the air cleaner to rotate something up front.

With where the crank is located low on the dash, yet the cable exits the firewall high up, I assuming there is a gearbox (reduction box) under the dash? Thats a hefty flexible cable exiting though the front fender, but no idea what the application is.

I'd like to know what the lever running to the rear operates. That might be a clue.
