Got my new Sparton installed last night. The green light even works!

Believe it or not it was sort of confusing because on my old sparton..the colors of the wires in the sparton didn't match the colors of the wires in the lights, so I started out trying to mismatch them the same way.

I tested each wire to determine which wires were for which light and I followed Stans codes telling me which wires in the sparton were for which lights, and the colors now are a direct match. Blue to Blue; Orange to Orange and so on. Seems like I may have had the wrong Sparton in originally, but now I have the correct one.

This wiring is really really simple.

4 wires for the lights (once you identify which ones are which just lable them or write them down)

A black and a white going to the flasher and a brown going to the brake light wire.

Then a single red/white wire leaving the flasher going to the ignition for power.

One thing I did notice was that when I first put it on...the green light didn't work so I wiggled the clamp that holds it to the steering column creating a better ground and it started working.

Thanks John, I have an old one ( on my 1956 CJ5 ) that I need to work on. Your posting helped inspire me to take it apart and try to get it working.

    Left Front - Yellow
    Right Front - Black
    Left Rear - Blue
    Right Rear - Orange
    Brake - Brown
Black from the Sparton to Flasher Terminal "P"
White from the Sparton to Flasher Terminal "L"
Red leaves Flasher from 3rd terminal to the Ignition for power

There are different color wires in different jeeps as well as different Sparton signals. The Sparton's that I have both have the exact same model number
SAE Q69 Model SCS 3R7 and both have different color wires in them.

Stan Day gave me the wiring colors from his jeep as well as the wires in his Sparton.

I remember when I first got my Sparton working--pretty neat! Good job!

My next project is to convert the wiring to use the pyramid shaped 6 terminal connector housing instead of individual bullet type connectors. I am also going to change the two wires to the flasher to a 2 terminal plastic connector.

Then I am going to wire up my Sparton and my signal stat with the same plugs so I can interchange them simply by unplugging the two plugs and switching them out.

Why? Because I can! And because here in Hawaii they look at the 4 ways for state safety inspection. I could explain to them they were only an option, much like I had to do with no reverse lights. Got some funny looks until the boss came out...but figure it is just as easy to switch to the signal stat on inspection day.
Heaven knows if I switch to the stock wiring setup where the front parking lights are off when the headlights are on, they'll be confused for a week!
