It needs bark busters, knobbies and a rack for your chainsaw.

Some things I like about this rig:
    - It has wing windows
    - Floor-mounted dimmer switch
    - The trim piece above the windshield is aluminum, not plastic. Imagine that!

Some things that were unpleasant enough to make me change them:
    - The handling is sketchy. It has an unpredictable bumpsteer. There’s a tiny bit of play in the steering box, but not enough to make it feel like this. I checked the toe, and the front was 3/8” narrower than the rear. I backed it off to 1/8” but haven’t had it out since to test it. Hopefully it made an improvement.
    - The seats are horrible. The driver’s seat dumps me forward to the point that it feels like I’m sliding out of the seat and my butt skin is tearing loose. I stacked some shims under the front of the seats, but it’s eventually just going to need a different set of seats. The seat belts are getting swapped too.
    - It has a rear-view camera, and the screen just clamped to the existing rear-view mirror on the windshield. I found myself constantly looking up to the mirror to see what the kids were up to in the back. I made a bracket that mounts to the dash that I could clip the relocated screen to, so now I can keep an eye on the twerps while I’m driving.
    - The cup holders in the wooden console were almost unusable. There wasn’t enough room between the top ring and the shelf to keep a drink from falling over. I lowered the shelf by a few inches and threw a block of wood in there so we can still keep our phones in the slots. (I know the woods don’t match. Don’t judge.) :p

    - There are 4 “beds” in this thing, and only one of them is big/comfortable enough for me to sleep in realistically. And that’s only if I’m in it alone and I can turn 30° so my head is in the corner and my feet are in the hallway.

I need be able to hang my feet off the end of the mattress to sleep well, and in this, I’m flat-footed against the bathroom wall if I lay straight.

So, demolition began this morning. I tore out all the cabinets on the right. The plan is to continue the bed platform across from wall to wall and stick a real queen mattress sideways back there. I’ll have to climb over my wife to get out, but I rarely get up in the middle of the night anyway, so no biggie.

Also, I’m going to Hermiston, OR to pick up another scooter on Friday. :D She can have the blue one, this next one is mine. :sneak:

Man I was hoping for a couple Honda Trail 90's. They work great on RVs with the swivel handlebars..;) I grew up traveling in a 24' Winnebago Class A with two CT90s on the front and towing the '66 CJ5 behind.

RV captain chairs are largely crap. Overstuffed, oversized, and uncomfortable. I put minivan seats in our Class B and it was a huge improvement.

RV mattresses are all crap too. We replaced with them with dense foam.

Same here, minivan seat in place of original drivers seat. For some reason my wife doesn't want me to replace the passenger seat. I can drive much longer and feel better at the end of the day. More adjustable also.

For about 2 weeks, I’ve been staring at a set of 2 captains chairs from the second row of a Honda minivan on CL for $50, but I’m a little hesitant to believe a second row seat was built for comfort, and not just for its folding capabilities. I guess for $50 they’re worth checking out. That’s cheaper than Pull-n-Save.

The best van seats I ever had were in a 91 Aerostar XLT. It had four identical captains chairs. The only difference on the driver seat was that it had a lumbar air bag in it.
On my 79 DJ5G I installed two Aerostar captain seats from the second row. Sort of ugly in a jeep but super comfortable.
Sorry but no photos available on that one.
