    Got this rack for free from a buddy dont know what brand it is or how the clamp on the side works but I was happy to get it. too cheap to buy one figured I would build one sooner or later.
    Threw it up on the top but not sure how I want to mount it.
    Would like to use it in summer without the top.
    And the top isnt so strong for holding it.
    Was thinking of building a setup like on a new jeep with mounts on the body.
    Any ideas?

    The tops are kind of flimsy. The PO of my Jeepster had a 33" spare on the roof, and put something between the roll bar and roof to support it. Not much help on roofless though. That rack is made for roof racks, top is stronger out on the rain gutters, so that's an option.
