the 33x9.5 is only avaible in the AT tread pattern. :( 2nd choice is the 32x11.50 MT's instead.

I think the stockers are 16x4.5. 16x5 for the old wagons/trucks. I don't think 16x6 exist. I wish they did.

Swamper Boggers are killer. They will kill yer axle. I've run them and they hook up very hard, are very heavy and have some strange road handling.
If you want the best mud tire out there the Bogger is the one. But would not run them on the smaller axles.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. Willysnut told me on another forum that 33x12.50 is probably too big a tire for my stock axles, so I was wondering about other available options.

I'm seriously considering 31s or 32x9.50's swamper tsl's, but another issue I need to factor in is whether 32" diameter tires will fit the U-haul car transporter tire straps. Since my CJ2A isn't street legal (and even if it were, I wouldn't trust taking it out on the highway to get to some trails a couple hours away!) I'll need to tow it. I tried flat-towing it once, but the steering became an issue, even as I tied the steering wheel. Would it fit if I let some of the air out of the tires? Or would that pose a safety problem while on the car hauler? Any comments on that?

I put my CJ-5 on a U-Haul with 32" tall tires. Had to air them down to get the straps on.

Everywhere I have searched here, on Willystech, the G, etc etc. says 16X5 or even one quote of 16x5.5 here on this board for stock wheels of pickups or wagons. It must be variation in measurement, but everything else I have read said 16x4.5 for CJ wheels.

I have the 34 x 10.50's also, have yet to drive tham though, another great choice if you can find them is the old gumbo mudder, they come in some funky tall narrow sizes and are a great mud tire..

4.5" and 5" is all I've heard too. I'm curious about the 6" measurement, you did measure bead surface to bead surface I assume?

IIRC - Joe used a U-Haul to bring his Jeep to Tellico a couple of times. He has 33's and, even though the straps wouldn't go around the tires, he looped them over the axle and didn't have any problems.

Did you measure the inside width with the tire off? That's where the 4.5" comes from.

Do you mean you rechecked the measurement?

Did you try it w/o the steering wheel tied? I never could understand doing that, as if the front wheels turn that steering has to turn as well.
