tailgate latches/chains

    I would appreciate it if people could post pics showing how their tailgates are attached. I am trying to think of some simple (and clean) way to have the latch and chains as part of the same mechanism. I haven't been able to find a good close-up of the original bantam set-up either.

    I like these cables, but I am not a big fan of the sliding bolt latches:

    You've probably looked at these..but just in case...

    Sometimes I run w/o chains as they bounce around quite a bit. I also pull them for storage and leave just the clips on. FWIW this setup looked original, used with "S" hooks on the chains.

    You're right...I peeked at those on your page. Where do both ends of the chains attach?

    There's a stainless eyebolt just out of view - one end of the chain attaches there, the other to the caribeaner. AFAIK originally they just welded one end of the chain on originally...

    Thanks Jim,

    I had actually noticed ground-off nubs on the side where your chains attach to the skirts. Your pic expalins it all. My s-hook holes do not line up perfectly due to some tailgate warpage, but I like the simplicity of the orginal design, so I guess I will keep bending and trying to get the holes to line up better.
