Does anyone know if it's realistically feasible to modify a sideshift T98A out of an FC150 to a top shifter? What's involved?

no experience, but looks like maybe the top cover and the lever for reverse ?
    I'm sure there's probably more.
    but......maybe not

Reverse lever #7 stay in place.
    Change the shift tower.
I can get you a T98 cane shift tower.

The shift tower is the only thing different on a FC trans. The rest is the same. I believe the input shaft might be different depending on whether it was behind a 4 or 6 cylinder however.

Thanks for the info. Oldtime, I'll let you know I need on. Daryl, yeah, that's one of the few things I know.

The only difference is the shift tower. Since the forks for the remote shift are in the tower, is is simply a matter of taking the remote tower off and installing a cane shift tower.

You'd likely need new transfer case levers -- those could be hard to find, but you could use the standard ones and have a shop make them almost vertical. The angular levers work fine for t-90 transmissions, but since the t/c behind the t98a is pushed back further the shift levers need to be vertical.

If you are getting one from an FC 150 be sure to get the crossmember as well since they have an additional flange on them that the t90 crossmembers do not. It isn't hard to make one, but if you can get the correct one it saves you time and effort.

There will be a difference in main drive gears for the F head FC150 and the 6 cylinder F-170.
