I'll try and take some T98 mounting pics but it may take a few days to get them uploaded.

Factory spacers that I was talking about:

T-14 crossmember with a T-18 sitting on it:

As it turns out, I did leave the cable clutch bracket on the crossmember after all:

T-14 trans cover modification (your template will come out much nicer, but this could be a temp solution):

Clint, you moved the snubber off of the cross member onto the frame? Is the bracket welded onto the rail?

I have a T-98 in my CJ, so I will see if I can get some time to get some shots posted in here for you. Sounds like your main concerns are the mounts for the xfer case and the rear of the tranny?

Here is what I ended up with. It's not installed yet I just mocked it up. I suspended the tranny/TC combo on an engine hoist so I could do my initial fitment. I started by bolting the snubber on to the TC and crossmember since that is the only real constant in the way I assembled it.

I then bolted the transmission mount to the bottom of the adapter plate that is between the tranny and the TC. The cross member ends up just forward of the transmission mount so other than the snubber, nothing else has direct contact with the cross member. I then placed a bracket on the backside of the x-member the top of which is flush to the top of the x-member. This bracket is what the transmission mount is bolted to. The bracket I used I cut off of the x-member that came with my T-98. The reason I didn't use that x-member is the snubber bracket was rotted out. It seemed easier to salvage the bracket and place it on a different x-member than it would have been to find a snubber bracket and mount it onto that x-member.

The bracket was riveted through the bracket onto the back side of the x-member and also welded where the sides of the bracket but up against the x-member at the rear of the bracket and at the bottom. When I cut the bracket off I was careful to keep the rivet holes intact so i could bolt the bracket onto the new x-member. The bracket placement is determined by the transmission mount's position so when I was assembling it, I bolted the bracket to the mount before bolting it to the x-member. The bracket ended up hard against the bracket that was already in place on the x-member for the stay cable. I came very close to having to grind down part of either bracket in order to get them to fit but I lucked out...for once.

Any way, now that the bracket's position has been determined all I have to do is disassemble it, while leaving the bracket bolted to the x-member, and have the bracket permanently welded onto the x-member.

If you don't have the correct x-member bracket, some 3/8' angle iron should work. I suggest you place some gussets on the ends to strengthen it.

Don I have a pile of trans floor covers for the shift tower; some A1 floorboards too.
If you're up this way, holler.
The price will be right, wink wink.
