Are the detent springs and ball bearing the same for a T98 and T18? The small parts kit does not have them in it.

No changes to the springs nor the rail poppets that I'm aware of.

There were only minor or generally insignificant changes to the T98 and T18 shift tower assemblies prior to 1980.
By insignificant I mean there typically exist no reason why the tower assemblies cannot be interchanged.

Some of the earliest changes included:
    1) A variety of shift levers.
    2) Changes to and eventually the deletion of the 2 right side casting bosses.
    3) A couple different types of fork set screws.
Earlier type were safety wire square head and later type use allen head set screws

    Some later changes included:
    1) Casting numbers
    2) Plasticised shift forks.
    3) Addition of back light switches
    4) Addition of 4th gear switch may be noted on some .

I was thinking what Ken writes was correct, but I was not sure. I bought a shift top rebuild kit for the T-18, from a seller on eBay I recall. I can't find that seller now, but I recall Parts Mike also sold the kit. he can get a lot of parts that aren't on his site. The kit includes all the poppet springs and balls, plus the roll pins, plugs for the rails, and some other pieces.

I wasn't very clear when I typed my last message. I need the detent springs and balls for the first/reverse slider gear and the detents and springs for the third and fourth synchronizer.
