Guys - Working on a T18 for my niece's rig - got the rebuild and input shaft swap done this weekend, but it looks like the rear adaptor does not bolt up tight to the tranny. I also have issues with stripped holes for the top two adaptors holes (the larger bolts) that is going to make it difficult to snug it up (I think). Camera is out for a couple days, but wanted to see if there is a space there normally.

I also had to NOT have the oil slinger for the front bearing (thin plate) as I could not get the snap ring on the input shaft to fit with it on.

Got any advice? I'll get pics by tomorrow, but it's a small gap, just not used to it.

Check the width of the snap ring on the rear mainshaft bearing. If it's too wide when it's installed on the bearing it won't fit into the adapter.
On the front, Ford inputs used 2 different bearings. One was thicker and the same as the rear mainshaft bearing. This one does not use the slinger/shield. The other used was a thinner bearing that did use the slinger/shield. The bearing journal is different depths and the snap ring groove on the input in a slightly different location depending on which bearing was used. Sorry but I don't have the part #'s handy. I have them at work but not here.

I went and fiddled with the rear at lunch - swapped the old snap ring in and got closer (it's in good shape). Did some work on the adaptor with some emery cloth and I can now get it to fit on.

    Found another stripped bolt though.

I'll see if I can take a pick of the shaft, but I am leaning toward it being the type without the slinger as there was not one in the kit I got with the shaft and other parts. The shield was in the rebuild kit, but that was for a Jeep tranny so I used the new bearing I got with the shaft.
