I got the tranny out tonight, funny how it pretty much came out without and effort tonight, but on sunday it would not come off the engine. Anyway, i got my stock mustang clutch disc and compraed to the centerforce disc. Odd thing both of them look IDENTICAL!!! I mean from spring position to surface they are identical. The differnce is the middle spline hub. Centerforce disc is 1/8 longer than the stock disc, and you can tell on th ecenterforce disc that i was rubbing some kind of metal (Throwout bearing or pressure plate on the top of the spline hub. So I am guessing this 1/8 of distance will fix it. Only reservation i have about this is that 1/8 is not much at all. Do you all think this would let me finally disengage the clutch?? Just doesnt seem much :( But that is the only damage i saw in the clutch. The marks on the spline hub, nothing else is bent. Now i have to fix the oil leak in the front of the tranny and throw it back together, i just hope this fixes it, if not. i am going to go crazy!!!!!

Dan, in a relatively precision assembly 1/8" might as well be a mile, that could very well make a world of difference, if the assembly needed a 1/32" of clearance and you put something an 1/8" thicker in there, you just ate up more than 3 times the clearance you had to start with!!

Not to hard at all so long as the clutch is still relatively smooth, so that I have a decent surface to sit it on when clamping it down.

:) I may take you up on it, i am thinknig bout having a spare just incase. I am just hoping this will work with the other disc. Really is sad that you pay extra for a "Centerforce" disc and it is the same as the stock one :( But it still should be bettre with the centerforce pressure plate, i am glad i got that one :)

I hear ya Dan, I've had similar frustration after paying top dollar from "reputable" parts stores for starters/alternators only to replace it with cheapy from Pep Boys and realize it's the same crappy Mexico rebuilt part. :(
