Anyone know where I can find or have any info on the PTO units that mount to the side of a T-18?

I got mine from ebay, but then I found one for the D20 transfer case.

Well, I would like to add a PTO unit to my CJ. But since I put the gears from a ford 6.32:1 tranny in my jeep 4:1 case, I guess I need to be looking for one that fits a ford, but isn't the PTO plate on the other side. Of course these questions are irrelevent if I can't even find one cheap.

Ok, that's helpful. You don't need one for a Ford, just need one with the output in the correct direction. Most transmission mounted pto units the output can be flipped around. You need a pto that matches the gear ratio and transmission you intend to run it on. In other words even though the bolt pattern is the same, one for a 4.02-1 T-18 won't work on a 6.32-1 T-18 due to the tooth counts being different. Also be aware that a pto that bolts on the side of a transmission runs off the counter gear, and the counter gear never reverses. That means you have power in only. To off set this there are pto units that are reversible, but cost more. I had one custom assembled for my NV 4500 that's in my CJ-6 so I have power in and power out if needed. That was about 10 years ago and was about $400 new.
You can get a pto to fit your Jeep case and the wide ratio gear set as that combo was used in Jeep pu's and Wagoneers and was available with a PTO winch.
Check with R&P. They had a reversible pto unit that came off a 6.32-1 T-18 from a Jeep PU. It was a whole winch set up, but they may separate the PTO. Not sure on that. Their # is 503-557-8911. Don't know what they'd want for it but worth a call.....Here's a link to their web site that can also get you their e-mail. http://www.r-p4wd.com/

What years? Can you recall? That way I can keep my eye open for one, and maybe get lucky. Were enough of them ever installed that there may be some more out there?

    Thanks, Jim

Late 60's into the mid to late 70's with the 20 transfer case. I don't have a specific year listing but you might ask Timgr or Jpflat2a if they know. One or the other have parts books that cover a lot of that stuff. Nickmil

Do those PTO's that run off the cluster gear have to be adjusted for proper mesh on the cluster gear? A friend of mine stuck a Ramsey PTO winch on his F-100 with NP 435 and even when not engaged, it was very noisy.
