Hmmm...I wonder how much inner fender you'd end up trimming on a rig without a whole buncha lift?

I have been watching this. I think i am gonig to try the route that they disclaim about using the 2 piece soft door style hinge, that way you can remove the fenders. The piano hinge doesnt appeal to me, that is just alot of cheap metal. At least with the door higne way you can have one mount offset from the other so you do not have a wider spacebetween the fender and body.

Don't piano hinges have a center rod that you could pull to remove the fender?

Other than space restrictions...I don't think I'd pull them if I could swing them open.

My 1-pc front clip was removeable...but I probably pulled it a half-dozen times in the years I had it...

can just see a gent on the trail somewhere trying to re-install his fender, put the pin back in, and the two sides don't align anymore due to body/sheetmetal flex/roll/bend etc.

might work okay for a street Jeep, but a hard use trail rig ?
    I like bolts, sorry

This was in one of the off road magazines a while back. Used piano hinge and dzus faseners up front. Was gonna try it myself still have the piano hinge I bought at tsc but not the Jeep I was gonna try it on. Still kinda like the idea, sure makes it easier to work on if your Jeep is lifted any at all.

We've had a thread similar to this posted here before. I really like the idea. If I can find a 'quick disconnect' for where the fenders attach to the grille, I'm doing it. The Dzus fasteners are rather spendy, so I'll keep looking ;)
