Tried a search with no luck. Anyone have pics of their early 5 with 33x12.50 or 33x10.50s?

I want to make a trade with a buddy: my MTR's for some Swampers but I'm not sure which size to go with.

Somebody please help! And send some beer!!!

    Thanks!!!!!!

That was fast! Thanks for the reply Sparky. I hope I don't come off as being too picky but... does anyone have pics of how swampers look?

The actual Interco tire sizes tend to be bigger than other manufacturers when comparing two similarly sized tires so I'm wondering how they'd fit. Okay, I'm ducking and running away from the computer!

Sparky I like those 33x10.5 BF's you have on the orange cj5 in those pics. Do you have a lift or the stock suspension? t-90 tranny? I have the f-head w/ t-90 and want to upgrade my tires.

How about 33x14.00x15's. Jeep has a 4" lift and wheels are 15x10 with only 2.5' of backspacing.

You can look at my avatar or follow the links to the rest of my pictures. I am not sure on the brand but they are 33x12.50. The suspension is stock and there is no lift of any kind on it. This setup works very well in our louisiana's soft ground and since we don't have a lot of really uneven ground around here, the normal suspension travel works well. Only bad thing is the wide tires decrease turning ability and that is a big deal when driving through the woods. Overall I am happy and would not go with a skinny tire because i might hurt my performance in mud and in creeks.

I've got 33 x 12.50's and have thought about going to 10.50's just to save weight and front end trouble. But sometimes floatation is EVERYTHING. Only you can decide what's best for your rig. If you NEED the floatation, go wide.

IMO a 10.5" tire IS wide on a CJ-5. It will float. Look at what was stock. JMO.

No matter what size tire a vehicle has it's still gonna get stuck! The only reason I have larger than stock is because because everyone else larger than stock too.

I agree with Sparky - 10.50 is wide enough for most conditions.

But, there are exceptions. Like last Saturday, moose hunting, out on an old trail overtaken by tundra, with endless mud bog just underneath the surface, and nothing to winch to for half a mile. You DON'T want to break through - floatation is everything.

I've run both 255/85(9-33) and 12.50/33 aand I like them both. I like the taller more narrow tire if my vehicle sees any hiway time because the longer narrow footprint doesn't seem to hydroplane as bad. Now I like like the way the wider tire looks and how it does in the mud here. On the other hand in that mud I have found steering isn't always as precise as I would like it to be once in the mud, the more narrow seems to steer but also dig in to do so. Everything has a tradeoff......
