Does anyone have any suggestions for some suspension seats to put in the front of a flatty mounted into the cage frame? I am currently leaning towards some Corbeau Baja ss seats.

http://www.corbeau.com/products/fixed_back_seats/baja_ss/ but would consider others. I like the price at $175 a piece. If money wasn't so tight I would probably go for some Mastercraft Rubicon or the Mastercraft Military http://www.mastercraftmil.com/seats.php I just can't come up with $400 plus each for them. Anyone have any experience with Corbeau? The reviews I have found are generally good. I have already notched the rear wheel wells to give some more legroom and work with the much bulkier suspension seats.

I am going to be fabricating the cage soon and will be putting the seat mounts into the cage. I am also looking at going with some Corbeau 4 point retractable seat belts.

I love the Empi Race Trim style seats that are in my VW...i'm considering straling them for the Jeep. Low backs with head rests, take the head rests out, and it's vintage looking.

Greg-running exactly what you propose, Corbeau Baja RS suspension seats. Absolutely no complaints. I needed the flip-up backs because I have no tailgate. I am also going to install the same 4 pt belts.

I've been on rides in two Jeeps with this setup and have no problem riding all weekend in them, very comfy.
I do think the PRPs are little more comfy but this would be a personal choice.

Thanks for the responses guys. That helps me out a bit. Like I said if I could come up with more money I think I would go with Mastercraft but I am already struggling to come up with cash for this. I am pretty sure he Corbeau Baja SS seats will be a good compromise for value, comfort and quality. I think I will buy them from 4wheelParts for $162 each and free shipping. Hard to beat that price. It looks like you guys are fitting suspension style seats in your rigs well. I think with the notched wheel well and the cage support frame it will work well. I am pretty sure my wife and myself should fit the standard seats OK. We are both fairly narrow across the rear. I only have a 33" waist and I am 5' 11" tall so I think I will fit the seat fine. The Corbeau website says that they fit up to a 36" to 38" waist. If my wife's butt starts to not fit the seat then I will have to get her to work it off. :D I have looked at a lot of the seats that you guys suggested but I am still leaning towards the Baja SS seats due to the reasons I have mentioned. Unless someone tries to talk me out of these I think I will order them in the next day or so.

Another manufacturer to check out is http://www.racecraftseats.com/. I purchased mine from them @$198 per (looks like $249 now). In a cj5 I have the seats, a 7" console, and 6" outside to the door. These are very comfortable seats both on and offroad.

If you're a bigger person check the measurements closely. All the seats mentioned are good seats but if I've found "off the shelf" seats to be too tight most of the time. I'm only about 5' 9" tall but have a 48" chest and they squeeze my rib cage. Not too much an issue for short time but at the end of a long drive/run my ribs are killing me because of it. If smaller then it shouldn't be an issue. Most of the manufacturer's listed offer larger or wider seats.

I guess I should have listened to the couple of warnings from you guys on how narrow some of these seats are. The bad news is that my seats showed up and after sitting in the Baja SS seats from Corbeau, I have found them to be quite narrow. In their info Corbeau says the seat will fit up to a 42" waist. That is bulls**t. I fit in it just fine but it is just a tight fit. I am 5' 11" with a 42" chest and a 33" waist. If you are bigger than that make sure to order a wider seat as I only just fit. My wife on the other hand does not fit the seat. :( Remember guys "Happy Wife, Happy Life". If I expect to go out and play in my Jeep I need to take my wife sometimes and she needs to be comfortable too. So I will be sending the seat back. The good news is that I received one Baja SS seat and the other was a Baja RS reclining seat misboxed. :) The Baja RS is $120 more money so I won't be complaining about the mistake. My wife quite likes the Baja RS seats so I am going to keep the one Baja RS they sent me and send the Baja SS in for a refund. I will order another Baja RS seat for the other side. I am pretty happy with the seat belts I ordered though. They look like they will work very well. It may be a month or two yet but I will post some installed pictures when I get it all sorted out.

Here is the first of my Corbeau seats mounted to my seat frame. I am really liking the Baja RS seats. I am finding my as placed seat position to be quite comfortable.

I will post some more pictures when they are both placed and I have the seat belts mounted.

Looking good as usual, Greg. I mounted mine so the tilt mechanism is in the center, rather than along the outside. Just easier to get at. I also made the mounting brackets so the seats can be moved up or down about 2.5".

The seat recline mechanism is on the left of both seats so that is where they are going to stay. I am still trying to decide if I should drop the seat a little lower. I like the driving position right now but my head is pretty close to the roll bar. It may get a bit of change yet. It is only tacked together for now.
