Well, this morning I drove the CJ down to the phone Co. to pay my bill. Since everything is close here in Havasu, why mail it and spend $.37. Also a good excuse to drive the 'ol :v6: .

Something felt funny in the brakes? They stopped fine, but the pedel felt funny on my foot itself. Really Strange. :?

After I paid my bill, I got in and looked at the pedel. SCHZAMM--it was crooked. The dang thing is screwed on the shaft with a lock nut on the back. The lock nut came loose and the pedel pad itself turned. I had no idea that the pad was screwed on! The pad was always slightly "askew" and I thought the shaft was bent or something.

Guess What? It's straight now! :D

Learn something new every day about these old things. R)

 The Willys wagons and trucks are like that, but I didn't know they made any CJs that way. 8)

Ya know, I think that the brake pedal is like that but the clutch pedal the pad is welded right on there. I think the reason is that the floor pan around the brake pedal is removable, but you wouldn't be able to take it off without completely removing the pedal from the arm, so they made the pad removeable for ease of maintenance. Waddaya think?

schardein: Sounds logical, but my clutch pad screws on too, like 66CJ5's. :? But there is no jam nut, or it is missing, on the back. It is slightly askew also, so I'll just get a nut and re-mount it.

    It's a Jeep, what else! R)

Thanks. Saves me from unscrewing the clutch pad after driving to the Hardware Store and trying to match something up. R)
