Building a 71 C-101 half-cab with a 225 :v6: bottom half and 3800 top half with eaton m62 supercharger. You can go ahead and flame my idea, but I need help finding forged pistons that will keep my compression down to 9.5:1 or less. I have found some 231 pistons @ 3.805" bore and was wondering if anyone has bored a 225 this far (Stock is 3.750" Bore). Have most everything except pistons and cam.

Other plans are a SM465 with an NP208, D30 swapped in up front, stock D44 in back with some mods. We'll see where the suspension goes.

    Thanks for any help.

I found standard pistons up to .060 over for a 225 that =3.810.I only went to .030 on my rebuild but someone here might have went that far.

I am .60 over in a 225, and I think my pistons were from Badger. But, but, but, If I remember correctly, the pin height on a 225 and the 231 are different. It's been since '99 since I put mine together, but I remember something about that for some reason.

    Welcome to the R&D lab!

I have a new set of cast aluminum dish (turbo) .040 over pistons. I never ran the engine, switched to JE forged. (I know I know, not much help)

I think you may run into waaaay too much problems mixing a 225 with a 3800 top end (cooling ports). also 225 heads will sap some of that performance. I like the way you think though! 8)

If it were me, I would take a stocker 3800 supercharged and toss a rwd 231 block underneath it.

edit: btw... forged pistons cost an arm and a wiener --ask me how I know! :D

I agree w/ Jon. I would get a 231 block for it. They use Buick 350 pistons@3.800" and the same size rod journals and mains. I would definitely beef up the main caps though, being SC you'll need it. I think you can get Milodon x-drilled 4 bolts for it, at least you used to be able to.

as a matter of speaking, I am going to go kick the door down at the engine guy's shop today. He won't return phone calls, supposedly took a day job in construction. His shop (home) is locked up and my stuff is inside. 12 months later, no results. I should have never said "sure, take your time, I'm in no rush"

btw, another goot point... you will need a 231 rolled fillet crank. If everything somehow worked, the 225 crank would not hold up under SC power.

Thanks for the info and the warm welcome, is there anyone else running 0.050-0.060" over on the dauntless. Just trying to make sure the cylinders will hold up. Does anyone know if the 231 and 3800 pistons are the same pin height as afore mentioned by m38willys, I have a 3800 block that I could pull a piston out of to check against my 225.

I can't say for sure, but it may be the deck height of the 3800 block that is different...idunno
