Busy weekend…..Got lot’s done on the CJ. I would never have done half this stuff without the collective knowledge on this forum. MANY THANX TO ALL THAT HAVE POSTED.

I tore out old useless heater and installed a Summit unit inside on far RH firewall behind glove-box. Shortened the glove-box to accommodate the heater. Installed cabin duct in instrument panel face and installed a new plastic defrost duct. I installed all new heater and radiator hoses as well as 190deg T-stat. This heater ROCKS. There is actually good flow coming from the defrost vents! I swear if you held your hand over the cabin vent, you would get burned!
Installed new key switch. Rewired and replaced all bulbs in the instrument panel. Traced and repaired backup light switch circuit. Traced and repaired entire turn signal circuit. I tested resistance on fuel gage to determine that it is good and my sending unit is bad (thanx to whoever posted those resistance values). Finally, I re-wired the tachometer…which now works perfectly.

Next weekend I hope to tackle the 11” front drum conversion, rebuilt the D-18 transfer case and install the way cool dual stick kit from Herm.

It just keeps getting better! Having nearly everything working the way it was intended makes it so much more fun to drive.

Tonite I put in the new fuel sending unit in and FINALLY have a gas gage! I installed a 3-amp barrel diode on the Delco 10SI alternator terminal #1 which cured the engine run-on that has been frustrating the crap out of me for the last 2 weeks. I also put in a voltmeter tonite and now see that my alternator is indeed actually CHARGING! Everything on the Jeep works now except the brake lights. I will tear into that when I do the front drum 11" swap.

A sincere thnax again to all the helpful folks on this forum!

Can you post some pics of the heater install? I'd love to see that!

Also, would love to hear your report on the D18 rebuild and twin stick install ... are you going to a twin MC when you do the 11" drum conversion or sticking with the single?

Got so into the installation that I neglected to take pics while the dash was off. I will try to get pics under the dash. Whether stock or added, I have the dbl master cylinder now. This heater, honest to god, makes a difference in the cabin with the top off!

I'll put one of those in when I replace the original column with a GM column and some hanging pedals. Thanks for the idea.

Enough to cool off the engine? R) I'll be getting one of these heaters eventually, but there are other items more important to my jeep right now.
