this is the 2nd time for this post, so itll be shorter and to the point..=\
(i accidentally deleted the other before i hit enter)

anyway, i want to stretch my cj5 into a 6. what are the differences between the 2 besides frame and tub? is the wheel base the same or will i have some added room to put in a different drive train?
i am trying to stick 5 boys in this old cj5 so room is needed.
might go to a scrambler or something. clue me..=)

As far as I know, the only difference is the extra 20" of wheelbase. Theoretically, you should be able to extend your frame and bolt on a CJ6 tub. That and a longer rear driveline should be about it.

Gosh, we've covered this many times.

The frame rails on the CJ-6 and Commando are the same, and are 20" longer than the CJ-5. All the added length is in the straight section in the middle. A strap is added to the bottom of the rail for strength. The body is sectioned in the rear wheel well and the floor, wheel houses, and rear half of the fenders are moved back. A new section is added between the door opening and the fender well, and a new floor section is added between the kick-up and the stock floor. the rear driveshaft, exhaust, wiring, etc is lengthened.

You could do it, but it's probably cheaper in the long run to buy a CJ-6 or Jeepster and move your good stuff over to that. Unless, of course, you can price your time/sweat very, very cheaply.
