Steering column assembly..

    Quick question..
    I purchased a new column tube form Walak's.. the bearing already came in the tube..
    the column spring rests on the bearing, followed by the steering wheel then the nut?

    I seem to have an extra part, a thin ring with teeth facing inward.. (and inside out gear lets say)

    Cant really tell from the service manual where this goes in the assembly..

    I might as well ask as well..
    does anybody have a picture sequence of a steering column being assembled?
    I can’t seem to find a good picture of how the horn plate gets installed.

    i never found one either.
    so i never hooked it up.
    it seems like somewhere on the intergooglyweb there would be 1 good picture.

    I sent image of steering from manual, good luck. Please post how this rebuild went. I need to rebuild mine..

    While you're at it, tighten the steering gear box to the frame and work your way up. The welting material goes around the steering wheel tube and then it works good. The idea is to eliminate binding in the steering wheel shaft. Tightening it from the top to bottom or just as you go along "Can" leave you with a bowed shaft (and we all know how painful that can be) that will give you easy and hard places as you spin the steering wheel. It "Can" also cause a catastrophic failure of the steering shaft after untold flexing and we all know that stuff never breaks just as we switch off the engine at home after we've done everything fun.
