Hello all. CJ5 1967 225 V6 stock stock stock. OK here's the scoop. I bought a "rebuild" kit for my 7/8" steering bell crank (Ross setup). I went to put the seals in and screwed them all up. These are the rubber encapsulated type. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they wouldn't go in. It's like they were too big. Anyhow, I went out and purchased some sweet steel shell type (like the ones I took out). I measured 1.375 ID on the bell crank and found what seemed to be a perfect set. Well I screwed them up too.... totally my fault, forced things when I got aggrevated. I ended up putting the original ones back in, sure, they'll probably leak a bit, but It's Friday. I drive the Jeep on Fridays and didn't want to miss out. So after this long winded setup, is there some trick or tool that I should be using? I bought a cheepo "seal installation kit" from AutoZone but it was worthless on this job. Thanks!
