Well, I dug up two sets of speedometer gears from D18 parts I had sitting around. I was wondering if I can just swap a set into the D18 that I have on the Jeep now, or if it is going to mess things up because it is not the 18 it came out of? I figure as long as I swap both of them it should be fine, right? Here are links to the pics. One of the gears has larger splines and one smaller splines. Also, the one on the left has a spacer (if I should call it that) instead of the whole thing splined. It's also shorter. Is that a problem? A little help?

Holy cow!! So much information. I guess I should have given more info on the gears. It feels as though both sets match up. The first set is SW447537 after that number it has a dash 18 dash 7. That seems to match up with the SW890209 when I fit them together, but doesn't match with your info.

The next is the SW447021 with mathcing SW448110.

Previously in the case I think was a SW448495 which I destroyed likely from mis-matching the other gear. I have 4.88's so from the info you've given should be right. I guess I should take the case apart and find out what gear is still inside it. Maybe it will match up with one that I have.

I guess then if I swapped in other gears, the speedometer MPH would be different with the different gears. Is that right?

I meant speedo gears. So, the MPH should be "close" even with different speedo gears as long as they match up? I think the 448495 that I destroyed was 22 tooth. So the closest speedo gear set that I have in hand would be the 890209 with 18 teeth. Putting the 18 tooth in should make the speedo "more" accurate than the 448110 15 tooth?

    The mud is getting thinner.
