My 292 is a little anemic in my 6600# (empty) truck with a full load, but it’ll idle its way up a cliff and gets decent mileage. I think it would transform an old Jeep into a tractor.

    Regarding the 292.
Just read an article on this engine into a CJ5.
    Four Wheeler, July 1963.
Not much tech info or photos, but one quote from the article for you:
" To begin with the engine, it is a 292 cubic inch Ford truck engine. In making the conversion, (***) needed no adapter plate but bolted the engine directly to the four speed Jeep transmission by drilling and tapping one hole and plugging another."

    Let your imagination run wild.

    Thanks for the info.
That’s why I’m looking forward to getting this engine out and seeing what all the dimensions are. Maybe it’ll be as easy as using my existing transmission with a Jeep clutch disc.
