my literature says that the cowl box lid was eliminated in '66. have never seen anything about when the snorkel cut-out was droped though.

My 67 which was built in October of 66 does not have the cowl "patch" Which is more like a lid welded in place.

the reason some jeeps have the shorkal cut out and others don't is simple: "when the po of the jeep dented/destroyed the oem hood, the cheap fix would be surplus army hoods."

My 67 (built Nov 66) does not have the snorkel or cowl lid.

Wingtime, thought I was the only one with a titled 67 with a late 66 build date. Mine has the single line master cylinder (which supposedly went out in 66) and top mount electric wipers. Yours?

I thought I was doing good to get 14 in my K5 Blazer with the top off in '88. We actually drove around town that way, the same day I bought it. Went home, pulled the top, and off we went. Over the next 3 days it had the tranny, transfer, springs, and axles swapped, headers installed, and a new (shortened from the 3/4 ton donor) rear driveshaft installed. Then we cruised it around town with open headers.

Not sure of the originality of my 69. It had the snorkel cut out and no marker lights on the fenders. Seemed pretty orginal, since the paint looked to be the original red, and was never painted.

Of course that's all changed now as you can see :D

Mine has top mount vacum wipers and a master cylinder that if I recall correctly had a bango fitting with two lines coming out of it. Or i'm wrong it it was a single line bango fitting with a single line going to a 4-way block on the frame. One in, two out for the front, one out for the rear. I'm going to have to look again and be sure.

Either way if you have the banjo fitting on the end that is a single outlet MC. A dual one would have the lines coming out the side. A single line MC also uses a screw on cap covering a single reservoir. Dual line uses a larger cap which may be held on with a bolt in the center or "clips", and when removed reveals 2 separate reservoirs in the MC.
It's interesting you have vacuum wipers and mine are electric. That would mean the switch occurred between Oct-Nov of 66.
    Sorry, guess we are OT!

My 66 has a single bowl mc, vac wipers, no snorkel cutout, no backup lite, no 4 way flasher.
Curious things (look original) chrome grab bar, chrome hood hinges, but hold downs are black. Hood tiedown spot for windshield is galvanized, but footman loops were painted when the body was painted.
Passenger record for me was 7 in a 1958 MGA.

The doner tub I picked up for Tonka's restoral was supposedly a '67 but as there wasn't a serial # plate on it I can't say for sure, but it Does have a battery box cover on the cowl. The only other easy item I can think of to date it is that the grill has the larger diameter plastic beehive park lights, anybody know when they started using these?

I think a tech article on the tub diferences year to year would be a great idea, I've noticed a bunch of details different between the doner & Tonk (whos a '55), stuff like an extra hat channel under the back floor, different sized braces, different style fender bolt nuts welded to the tub etc.

The larger front parking lights were for sure on the 1970 model... I seem to recall that some late '69s had them...???
