I don't think I'd worry about the additive Jason, my $ .02 cent's worth. How'd those cylinder walls look?

They looked great. I've got it all back together, got the 30wt in it and started her up. Ran well then it ran out of gas  And of course every gas can is empty right now, so I'll go get some mo gas after dinner and run her a little more.

Just reading through the posts. How did your cylinder walls look. Could you still see the crosshatch, or was it glazed up? Good to see somebody with the 4cyl still.:)

    Cheaper than you think.
You can buy a rehoner that uses a hand drill.

X2. Rehone & replace the rings.

Weekend job Jason, you were already halfway there when you pulled the head off. You'd need to pull the head and the oil pan, and unbolt the rods from underneath. Pop each piston up with a WOODEN rod (hammer handle works well) and remove. Hone the cylinder walls with a parts-store hone, a drill and some light oil. Clean cylinders & rod journals WELL with solvent. Replace rings. Lube the crap outta the pistons & rod journals with STP and use a ring compressor to pop the pistons back in the corrrect bores. (use fuel line over the rod bolts so you don't nick a journal in the process. Re-bolt the rods and torque to spec. Bolt the head & pan back up, refill the fluids and go!
