My 3 speed tranny shifter (mounted on the side) for the convertible is in bad shape. Would anyone know if there is any replacement available, or does anyone have one they are willing to part with?

Side shift in a Jeepster Commando? Is this column shift or did someone convert to a floor shift (if it’s a manual trans). Or are you working with an ugly trans.
Help us help you by giving us full information. We are guessing what you are working with here. Pictures would help too.

Evidently some of the JC's used a side mounted floor shift...I've never seen one in person, but I recall someone posting on here about one awhile back. I have no idea what year or models used it, I know my 70 is a top shift T14.
Here's a page from the parts book-

Wow, those have to be some supremely unobtainable parts.

What's wrong with the shifter? I suggest that, if it's complete, you refurbish what you have. Get the help of a machinist or welder if needed. The Mc-Master-Carr catalog has a large selection of bushings, springs and rod ends that provide some replacement material. www.mcmaster.com

I had no idea that was ever offered in a Jeepster Commando. Thanks for the info! I learned something new today.
I have to agree with Timgr. In all my years of dealing with early Jeep parts I’ve never seen any of those pieces. They must be hard to find. Might check with Jeepsterman or some of the Jeepster specialty places and see what they have available.

That’s what I have. The convertible with the console had the side shifter. My problem seems to be with the shifter and the surrounding linkage. I pulled it when the Jeepster was restored, so it is fairly easy to get to, I just don’t know where exactly the problem was. I was hoping to find another one so I could have an example.

Thanks for the idea. I am planning on pulling the shifter and linkage this weekend and see what I can do.
