Whats the story on the shackles that convert you over to YJ springs?

It's a bit more involved than just shackles - YJ springs are wider, so everywhere the spring is mounted or mounted to has to change.

There used to be a bolt-on kit (forgetting who at the moment), but last time I found the site the kit was out of production. IIRC it weighed 150lbs (!) and also did a shackle-reversal.

By the time I added up the costs and factored inthe weight, the Holbrook Long Leaf kit looked more attractive.

I wondered about that, I found some shackles on ebay that are wider on one side than the other. I would think all you would need were wider ubolts?

Wider shackles, U bolts, spring plates, spring hangers. You also need to move the spring hangers as the YJ springs are longer.

    Not a simple bolt on.

I'm gatherin parts. I'ma gonna try it one day. Got 2 sets of wrangler springs so far. Going to find some box steel of the right size on Friday so as I can make my own hangers. Shackle reversal? Thinkin about it.

I have the YJ springs on mine. I just bought the hangers from Krage. They are really inexpensive. When you call them they can hook you up with what you need for the conversion just tell them what your doing. I got the anti wrap perches from Rubicon Express. The placement of the rear spring is pretty straight forward. It's basically is the same length as the stock spring. The front spring hanger is the one that has to be moved back. Oh one other thing. if you go with YJ springs, you will have to go spring over, because the YJ springs will sit flat and lower your jeep if you go spring under. Going SOA opens up a whole new can of worms. Just ask me and Dan Stewart. You will have to deal with driveline angle issues and steering issues as well. Just go to my Webshots link, and you can see what I have gone through so far. On the positive side, it is an inexpensive way to get some lift and a much softer ride. Oh and you will definitely need to install anti sway bars if you go with YJ springs because the Jeep will really lean in the turns.

Boyink said it best - and from what I have seen - the Holbrook Long leaf looks to be the way to go (will get mine on the road here soon) so I didn't have to SO.
