I look like an old fool driving around with my left blinker on! Then making a right turn!
Is there NEW self canceling switches or am I looking for an old one?
Good working condition is best. Thanks

All of mine self-cancelled permanently years ago.

But several people here have rebuilt old ones successfully, and posted their process.

For my Harley I found an aftermarket solid state blinker control that simply cancels after about ten seconds.

My Sparton works like new, mind you, it was originally in a Jeep that always had a top on.
Self canceling works perfectly, having the rubber wheel still soft, doesn’t allow slip on the steering wheel base.

My Sparton didn't work when I got it. Rebuilt it and now it works and looks almost new.

That’s encouraging. But I’m no closer to one. Unless you want to send me yours? :sneak:

I just drove 4 miles with my blinker on.
I’ll try to rebuild if anyone has one.

You could put a seat belt buzzer in the circuit. At least you would know it's on.
    What do you have now?

How about installing a couple of small lights in the dash? One for each side, integrated into the circuits.

Didn't some clusters come with blinker lights in them? I don't know about ecj5's but my 73 and 81 had some.

I imagine '72 would have probably been the first year.

This is what I was thinking. A couple big red lights high on the dash right in front of me.
But I’d still rather have the self canceling.
Next time anyone sees a junker with one PLEASE grab it out for me.

I learned to words today : blinker and flasher. Bliker, I understand. Flasher, I suppose that it is an electronic device like a transistor/IC to interrupt current every n seconds. ?
About the Spartan system, my CJ5 is 1971. I don't have fuse bex or other device. My turn signal doesn't come to neutral after activation, but before it worked.
Do you believe that I can repair it, opening it?
About adding a sound sigl on the "blinkers" line, I did this long long ago for my father, he was becoming deaf and was not well hearing the turn signal on.
I bought a sound signal from Honda motorcycle. Was noisy inside the car afterwards. My father stopped driving at the age of 88.
