Seafoam ?

Any one using Seafoam in their gas as a top cylinder lubricant/ cleaner? Pros or cons? My F134 with 28,000 plus miles sat for several years. Put engine oil in the cylinders and turned it over about once a year. Had recent problem with sticky valves, but that seems to have resolved after running it. Leaving on a 1000 + mile trip next week, thought it might help.

 

I used it and can't definately tell oh ya it worked, but it did seem to run smoother. It convinced me enough that I'll run a can thru every year.

 

I use Marvel Mystery Oil in my 64 CJ & 38 Ford standard,so far so good,no stuck valves!

 

There is a guy on youtube who does a pretty interesting test on a clapped out Ford Ranger, seems fairly legit. He claims no affiliation with any of the additive companies he tests. Fairly entertaining videos, he does one where he makes a complete cylinder head out of JB Weld. I am with Glenn...very tough sell when it comes to "wrench in a can", but likely right that the worse off the engine is, the more you are likely to notice the effects.

 

I have used both of these products over the years and they are pretty good

 

Going to try some in the 66. More a preventative measure for a 41 year old engine.

 

Ran some Seafoam through my old Honda CB360 that was only running on one cylinder. Don't know if a valve was stuck or the carb was gummed up but it cleared it up.

 

I put the recommended 1 oz per quart in the oil, made a difference with some of the questionable engine noises. I have the recommended 1 oz per gallon in the fuel tank, going to see what it does. Will probably run a couple cans through the fuel while on my trip. I am a skeptic when it comes to "wrench / sealant/ anything additive" in a can, but I have used Seafoam in my Yukon XL 6.0L gas engine to clean the injectors with good success.

 

Stabil is a must up here for snowmobiles being stored all summer. That stuff is excellent.

As for SeaFoam, I was gonna try some myself this fall, so report back when you're done

 

Stabil sea foam and Lucas are the only additives worth buying imo

 

Yep. Out of the blue my jeep started bucking real bad up the hill. Used sea foam and magically smoothed everything. So happy that it worked!

 

I'd add one more...beer. Sometimes when it is a little rough, 12 oz added to "my tank" smooths things right out

 

Anyone have experience with SeaFoam in diesels? I drive a 2001 Dodge 2500 with Cummings and 307,000. It run's good but I think the injectors could use cleaning, it's been a while. The SeaFoam website shows a product for transmissions. anyone every try it?

 

Just went out and read the can of Seafoam in the shop. Says right on the label that it's good for diesel too.

 

I have had very good results using Lucas gas treatment. Cleaning up jets in motorcycles and small engines.
