Not much to report lately.... With the holidays and cold weather... I did get a radiator and started to make it fit. I had to space the headlights forward an inch... You can kinda see it from the side. I ordered the Corbeau bench seat for the back...

I also ordered a 9in housing for the front. Fabricated housing with a passenger side drop and Dana 44 outers. I have all the stuff to put disc brake outers together...
Of course Currie is really busy so it'll be a couple weeks for that to arrive.

Not much to report here... I've been busy with all kinds of non jeep related stuff. But I did get the radiator mounted. I just need to mount the overflow bottle

We got a seat in the mail... I just stuck it in there on some 2x4s to get the height right. I make my wife and daughter sit in it every time they are in the shop to make sure its right... Maybe this week I'll get it finished up...

[IMG][/IMG]

The axle housing showed up today... Its not quite what I ordered... It has F450 inners instead of Dana 44s, and I think its a touch too narrow... Oh well Currie is gonna make it right. Tom from Currie has been a pleasure to deal with throughout this whole process. This thing is beautiful as well. All the welds are gorgeous, I hate to send it back.

I've gotten my rocker armor about 75% done... Just need to trim the ends on the driver side and cap the forward end.

Muhahahaha.... I got some good work done today. The replacement axle housing showed up last week while I was at work. Today was the first chance I had to really get to play with it...

[IMG][/IMG]

It was pretty tedious getting the housing all square where it needed to be. I used spring under saddles from RuffStuff. I had to cut up the passenger side to make it play nice. Then the driver side needed to be shimmed up just a smidge since the web of the center section wouldn't let it sit even otherwise.

I made a mock up tie rod so I could do some fiddling around... The tire clears the springs and frame by just enough... The total width at wms is 62 inches. The total width is around 75, with these wheels and tires. Not too bad.

Overall I'm very pleased with the axle housing. Currie started the correct one before the wrong one had even shipped back. I went ahead and had them build the inner axle shafts while they had the housing. Those things are beefy. 31 spline beefy. I've got all the parts for the disc brake outers, I just need new rotors, bearings, and calipers. I bought new ball joints yesterday at Toms Bronco Parts in Medford. Thanks for checking it out

I've gotten some good work done. The rockers are finished except for final paint, along with the radiator mount. I'll probably paint them next time I get a chance. I've started on my front fenders. I had a set of perfect front fenders that I traded for some fenders that were a bit thrashed. But, the inner fenders are perfect. So I've trimmed away the bits I don't need. I've added the side panel with a cooling vent. Some perforated sheet steel will fill the hole. I think the vents will help let some hot air out of the engine compartment.

You can see how much I cut away. I just couldn't see fabricating inner fenders. Around here there is too much mud to go without inner fenders. And, since this Jeep is gonna be in the snow, I need the inners... My battery box is built too. It will ride just above the opening in the fender. Thanks for checking it all out.

Great job with this build! I don't think I've seen too many cj-5's with chopped fenders and big tires that I've actually liked, but yours look awesome. Keep up the great work!

Also, I really like what you've done with your roll cage. I agree that the front rollbar is really intrusive. I might have to copy your design. The only thing that I could contribute to improve it would be a cup holder :)

Thanks for the compliments guys... I've been inspired by a few builds on here so figure its only right to share.... Cupholders is a good idea... I do have a bottle opener that will make its way eventually.... For camp site use only of course...

I got a chance to do some work this weekend. I'm pretty pleased with how the fender has turned out. The Jeep sits a couple inches lower than this. I still have it on jack stands for the axle swap. I need to order some U-bolts and build some new high clearance plates... Thanks again for checking it out. Laters

I did get some high clearance u-bolt plates built

[IMG][/IMG]

As you can see, the driver side turned out good. I'll trim the u-bolts a little more during my final assembly. The passenger side didn't turn out as well...

[IMG][/IMG]

I'm not happy with it at all. To make it strong I had to drop the inside web, which put the nuts hanging way too far for me. I'm planning to weld a pair of tabs on each side of the housing and use a couple grade 8 nuts and bolts instead. That way only the bolt head will be sticking down. I might put a couple tack welds just to make sure everything stays tight...

I also started cutting up the driver side fender today. No pics though. It looks just like the other...
Thanks for checking it out...

I agree, nice pup. I had two GSD's until one passed unexpectedly; now I just have one but they are the only breed I'll ever own.

Thanks guys... She is pretty awesome. My daughter doesn't go out in the yard without her. She has to be out watching over my daughter and her friends
